Itinerary
During this trip, we will take you to the following locations:
– Bab El-Siq is the entrance to Petra, a tiny ravine that leads to the city.
– One of Petra’s most remarkable features is the Siq, a long, narrow canyon that flows through the rock. You’ll find niches cut into the rock, as well as statues and other embellishments, as you stroll around the Siq. The Treasury, located at the end of the Siq, is one of Petra’s most iconic and distinctive features. It is a stunning, elaborate structure cut from the rock in the first century AD.
– The Snake Cave is a tiny cave near the Treasury that is called for the snake-like rock formations inside. The Obelisk Tomb, called for the four obelisks carved into the top of the tomb, is another magnificent feature in Petra. The Royal Tombs are a collection of tombs found higher up on the mountain. This collection includes the Urn Tomb, Silk Tomb, Corinthian Tomb, Palace Tomb, Sextius Florentinus, and The Carmine Tomb. Each tomb is ornately carved and ornamented, and it bears witness to the richness and power of the Nabateans who lived in Petra.
– The Petra Churches are a collection of early Christian churches cut from Petra’s rock during the Byzantine era. The Church of the Winged Lions, the Church of the Virgin Mary, and the Church of the Garden are all located in the northern part of Petra.
– The Petra Nymphaeum is a massive fountain near the Great Temple. It was created in the first century AD to supply water to the city.
– The Great Temple is a large temple complex at Petra’s core. It was constructed in the first century BC and has a wide courtyard, a massive stairway, and a number of halls and chambers.
– The Winged Lion is devoted to the Nabataean divinity Al-Uzza. It is so-called because of the winged lions that embellish its façade.
– The Temenos Gate, which has a large arch and two towers, is an entry gate to the Great Temple complex.
– The Colonnaded Boulevard in Petra is a significant street lined with columns and tombs. It connects the Temenos Gate with the city center.
– The Temple of Dushares, also known as Qasr al-Bint, is one of Jordan’s most important and well-preserved ancient buildings. It was a site of prayer and pilgrimage devoted to the Nabataean deity Dushares. To get to the temple, you need to go through the narrow and winding Siq, a natural rock formation that leads to Petra’s heart. After reaching the temple, climb the stairs to the Monastery, another remarkable structure with stunning views of the surrounding environment, including the Wadi Araba.
– The Monastery is perched at the top of a hill, and the trek is difficult, but the reward is well worth it.
You may continue your tour by hiking from the Monastery to Little Petra, a lesser-known but nevertheless worthwhile destination. The three-hour journey follows a picturesque track via breathtaking rock formations and arid scenery.
– Little Petra It is a smaller analogue of Petra and has a variety of ancient monuments, tombs, and other structures.
After exploring Little Petra, you will be picked up by a vehicle and returned to Petra.
This is a fantastic option to avoid the hike back and view even more of the breathtaking environment that surrounds this ancient treasure.
Overall, the above-mentioned places are all must-sees for anybody interested in Jordan’s rich history and natural beauty.
