Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Amman
Arrive in the vibrant capital of Jordan, Amman, where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your accommodation.
Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Amman
After viewing the Roman Theatre and the Amman Citadel in the morning, you will journey north to Jerash (Gerasa), also known as Gilead and the country of the Gerasenes in the Bible. Explore the theatres, temples, churches, and colonnaded alleys of the Roman Decapolis, often known as the Pompeii of the East. After lunch, return to your Amman hotel to spend the night.
Day 3: Amman – Desert Castles – Dead Sea – Amman
After breakfast, drive to Jordan’s eastern desert to see three of the best-preserved desert castles: Qasr Al-Harrana, Qusayr Amra, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and Qasr al-Azraq, which is made of black basalt and has been continuously inhabited since Roman times, including serving as Lawrence of Arabia’s headquarters during the Arab Revolt. You will be guided to the Dead Sea in the afternoon, where you may swim, relax on the beach, and enjoy a mud bath. After that, you’ll head back to your Amman hotel for supper and the night.
Day 4: Amman – Madaba – Nebo – Kerak Castle – Petra
After breakfast, head to Madaba to see the magnificent mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Your next stop is Mount Nebo, where, like Moses, you can see the Holy Land and the Dead Sea. If the skies are clear, Bethlehem, Jericho, and Jerusalem will be seen. The King’s Highway will now be the primary route travelled. While travelling through Jordan’s magnificent Wadi Mujib Canyon, you will halt at Kerak for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll see the huge fortress where Saladin and Richard Lionheart battled during the Crusades. Enjoy the breathtaking vistas as you drive along the King’s Highway to Petra, your final stop for the day.
Day 5: Petra
We have a great day ahead of us exploring all of Petra’s attractions. The city was first founded by the Nabateans into the rose-red Mountains, but until the Swiss explorer Burkhardt found it again, it was lost to humanity. Stroll around the Siq, a narrow and winding rift between the cliffs, to explore the Treasury, the Roman Nabatean Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the Roman Road, the big temple, the temple of the Winged Lion, and the basin. Come back to your hotel in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Petra – Little Petra – shoubak Castle – Dana
During the morning, there will be a tour of Little Petra, Beer Alarayes, the Nabatean Markets, Siq al Barid, the Nabatean guest houses and temples, and the crusader castle of Shoubak, which was referred to as Montreal during the conflicts. Proceed towards the hamlet of Dana, offering a stunning vista of the Dana Nature Reserve, and reach your desert tent for dinner and an overnight stay at your desert camp after that.
Day 7: Dana - Wadi Rum - Amman
Today, we travel south to Wadi Rum, the home of Lawrence of Arabia. There, you will see the well-known Seven Pillars of Wisdom, as recounted by Lawrence, and spend two hours exploring the area in a jeep, stopping at Lawrence’s spring, Al Khazali Canyon, the inscriptions carved centuries ago by the Thamudic and Nabatean people, and ascending a sand dune. We take the ancient Desert Highway back to Amman later on and spend the night and eat there.
